Neuromorphic hardware, organic electrochemical transistors analog circuits,

Organic Electrochemical transistors (OECTs) are an emerging field of device physics offering many opportunities in bioelectronics and neuromorphic computing. Like conventional MOSFETs, OECTs are 3-terminal devices (gate, source, drain); however, the semiconductor is replaced with an organic material that can allow both ionic and electronic conduction and the gate dielectric with an electrolyte. A potential at the gate allows ions to penetrate into the organic conductor, resulting in changes in its electronic conduction through a doping/dedoping process. Modeling of these very exciting devices is still at an early stage and designing circuits is quite challenging. The goal of this research is to develop a physical model of organic electrochemical transistors for use in neuromorpic circuits. The student will explore several models already proposed in the literature and implement behavioral circuit simulations using LTSPICE to test their operation. Results will be compared with collaborators in Dresden realizing these circuits…
