IA approach to determine the current-voltage (IV) parameters and degradation rates of a photovoltaic (PV) system.

  • Project description

We are working on a joint project with Feedgy (Paris-based startup) and the LMD (Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique) on a method to determine the current-voltage (IV) parameters and degradation rates of a photovoltaic (PV) system using power production and environmental data.

  • Desired profile
    • Graduate student (M1 or M2)
    • Basic understanding of solar cells and PV systems required
    • Working knowledge of Python (pandas, matplotlib, sklearn…) required
    • Background in any of the following fields recommended: renewable energy, mechanical/electrical engineering, data/computer science
    • Interest in joining an up-and-coming team of researchers in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques for PV applications
  • Tasks
    • Research and assess different PV electrical/thermal models
    • Test different configurations of an optimization algorithm
    • Research, implement, and evaluate different algorithms
    • Parse data from a server, apply basic data cleaning techniques, and create an open-access dataset on Github
    • Test the developed method on different PV technologies
